Rio Ferdinand, Jamie Carragher and Robbie Savage shares their verdicts on Manchester United’s poor spell of run in this current campaign.

Red Devils have been struggling to find their real form this season as they are currently sitting in 10th position in the Premier League table. Ten Hag’s side are also sitting at the bottom Group A in the Champions League with zero points in two games.

Pundit Robbie Savage claims United shows “zero dynamism” in this current campaign. He wrote in his column for The Mirror:-

“Ten Hag was hoping to put his stamp on the side this season but right now this Manchester United team has no dynamism, it’s full of lethargy and the players don’t look like they are enjoying it.

“Worst of all, the manager appears to suffering from delusions of grandeur because some of his excuses don’t wash.

“He tried to blame the application of technology when Alejandro Garnacho’s late ‘goal’ at Arsenal was disallowed, claiming VAR looked at it from the wrong angle. He claimed Rasmus Hojlund was denied a clear penalty at the Emirates – but few neutrals shared his opinion.

“And he bemoaned United’s luck when Hojlund’s late goal against Brighton was ruled out because the ball had fractionally gone out of play in the build-up.

“There is a lot of background noise about the Glazers’ ownership, a takeover saga that seems to be going on forever, Old Trafford looking like a tired stadium and the Carrington training facility being overtaken by others in its amenities. Yet some of the most concerning evidence of decay is where it matters most – on the pitch – and on that score, the buck stops with Ten Hag.”

Ferdinand believes United’s defense is the main problem

However, pundit Rio Ferdinand has been very vocal about United’s poor defensive in this current campaign. He said on TNT Sports:-

“I think at the end of the game they showed a bit of spirit, but up until that point. They’re not making it hard enough for opposition to score goals.

“Goals are going in too easily. But chances are being given up too easily and they’re making it hard for themselves.

“You come to places like here you’ve got to concentrate. You’ve got to be hard to play against and be hard to get through. They’re not doing that at the moment.

“And when they were on top and had moments in the game they were not being clinical enough. They scored three goals today. But when you score three goals at the Allianz Arena, you’ve got to come away with something.”

However, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher claims United’s midfield is has been functioning in this current campaign. Carragher discussed and told on Sky Sports:-

“The setup of the midfield is not right for me.

“I’m going to look at Casemiro but I think there’s a few things wrong. I think the manager’s setup, what he’s asking them to do. The setup in terms of the profile of players is not right.

“Meanwhile, the reason why I don’t like the setup of the manager is because he plays a man-marking system. You see how disconnected the United midfield three are because they go man-to-man.

“This guy in midfield [Casemiro], as we saw on Monday night and we saw constantly on Saturday night. It is being left exposed in the middle of the pitch on his own, and he can’t cope.”
