Celta Vigo name asking price for Javi Galan

Barcelona have some good news about one of their transfer targets. Javi Galan is allowed to leave Celta Vigo this summer, reports state.

The La Liga outfit have set a price of €13 million to part ways with the defender. Javi Galan moved to the Galicians last summer after leaving SD Huesca in a €2 million deal. He soon established himself as a crucial member of Eduardo Coudet’s team.

He has turned out to be one of the most regarded left-backs in the Spanish first division. The Spaniard has recorded four assists in 41 appearances for Celta, one of which came during the current season.

Barcelona, who had been linked with a bid for the Spaniard earlier in the transfer window, were intrigued by his displays. This summer, the Catalan giants were on the market for a new left-back, and Marcos Alonso appeared to be their top choice.

As he ages, Jordi Alba is without a reliable backup. Another left-sided fullback at the club is the teenager Alejandro Balde, but he lacks experience. Barcelona’s interest in Alonso has subsequently decreased due to a sour relationship with Chelsea. Moreover, his inconsistencies and defensive fragility also proved to be a red flag for Xavi.

Can Barca Get Galan?

Galan has a contract with Celta Vigo for four more years, that is until the summer of 2026. There is an €18 million release clause in his contract as well. Although they would be hesitant to part with a player who is an important component of the team’s setup, the report claims that a bid of €13 million can force their hand.

Barcelona have had a busy window so far. With just four days to go, expect there to be rapid movement as they decide which players to bring in or let go.
