Thailand Women had a dream game against Pakistan on 6th October. They stunned the Pakistani side with a 4-wicket win. It was also their first win over a Test-playing nation in any format. Pakistan looked shell-shocked as Thailand had done the unthinkable.
Pakistan opted to bat first after winning the toss. Sidra Ameen scored a half-century for Pakistan but did not receive any support from her teammates. Pakistan ended with 116/5 in their 20 overs. Thailand spinners were brilliant and bowled economically throughout. Sornnanrin Tipoch was the pick of the Thailand bowlers picking up 2 crucial wickets.
Thailand started cautiously without taking many risks. The opener, Natthakan Chantham’s 61 off 51 deliveries took Thailand to a victory. The match went down the wire but the inexperienced Thailand side held their nerves to cross the finishing line.
Chantham was declared the Player of the match. In the post-match presentation, she told that she kept things simple taking one ball at a time. She did the basics right and believed in the process than the result.
The Thailand Opener said,

“I was just looking to enjoy the game, play with a straight bat and win the game. I just came to enjoy the game and everything else just came along the way. Played with the ball, the spinners made me work hard, but I enjoyed it and got the job done.”

The win against Pakistan would surely be a stepping stone in the inspiring rise of Thailand Cricket. With this win, they would try to achieve more by qualifying for the semifinals of the Asia Cup.
