In the third test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia beat India by nine wickets. With the win, the Australians qualified for the world test championship final. The final is scheduled to be held in the Oval. The last World test Championship final took place in Lords between India and New Zealand.

Qualification for the World Test Championship

As Australia already qualified for the finals there is only one place left. India would look to seal the place in the fourth test rather than wait for the NZ vs SL series result. If India wins the final match of the series they not only win the series but also seal the spot for the finals. Then, India and Australia meet again in the Finals of the World Test Championship.

If India fails to win the last match. They need NZ to beat Sri Lanka in the series. For Sri Lanka, to qualify for the finals they need to win the series by 2-0. If they didn’t win any of the two matches, they will get knocked out. Eventually, India will get qualified.

The Aussies are the table toppers of the World Test Championship with 11 wins and PCT of 68.52. The second in the table is Team India with 10 wins from 17 matches. The PCT of Indian team is 60.29. Followed by Sri Lanka in the third place. Sri Lanka have won 5 matches from 10 matches. Rest of the teams do not have the chance to be qualified for the WTC final.
