Chelsea are close to signing Datro Fofana in the January transfer window

Chelsea are reportedly close to signing striker Datro Fofana ahead of the January transfer window. Chelsea are looking to sign a new striker after Armando Broja sustained an injury in the friendly against Aston Villa. Furthermore, the player is set to miss out on the rest of the season due to an ACL injury. Borja could even miss out the start of next season as well due to this injury. Graham Potter would already have his eyes on potential strikers to bolster his attack. The club’s transfer policy have definitely shifted under new owner Todd Boehly. Him wanting to sign new and developing talents for the club. FK Molde’s star player Datro Fofana have recently joined the list. Moreover, Datro Fofana is even monitored by several other clubs, not just Chelsea.

Chelsea are nearly closing on the signing of Datro Fofana

According to the reports, a fee of £ 8.7 million have been decided. Although personal terms are yet to be sealed with the player. Datro Fofana have been in marvelous form this season. He scored seventeen goals and provided 6 assists in his 28 appearances. Fofana was even seen outscoring Manchester City star, Erling Haaland. Haaland also played for the Norwegian club during his formative years. Manchester City striker scored 12 times back in 2018 while he still played for the Norwegian club. He later on went on to become of the best strikers by the age of 22. Datro Fofana had broken his FK Molde’s club record by scoring 17 times, which is 5 more goals than that of Haaland.

An agreement for the transfer is in place, which would be sealed once the personal terms with the player are agreed upon. Fofana was targeted by many clubs which prompted Chelsea to make a move swiftly. Their pursuit to sign does not affect their plans to sign RB Leipzig‘s Christopher Nkunku next summer.
