Chelsea are looking to downsize the squad in the summer

Chelsea are looking to sell a few players in the summer and looking to bring in new names to change the club’s fortune.

According to SkySports reporter Dharmesh Seth, Chelsea boss Graham Potter is not finding it easy to manage the current squad. Lots of big names in the teamsheet are rumored to be the main problem.

However, Potter guided Chelsea to their second win in this calendar year against Leeds United. It was far from convincing for the Blues as summer signing Wesley Fofana scored the only goal.

Fofana is one of the 16 players bought this year under the new ownership of Todd Boehly. Chelsea spend around £600 million this season.

Now, The Telegraph reported that Chelsea are planning yet another busy transfer window, but this team will offload some big names. New Owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are to keen cash in on the players entering their final year of the contract. Mateo Kovačić, Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, César Azpilicueta, and Thiago Silva are the players, who all have less than 18 months left in their contracts.

REPORTER SPEAKS ON CHELSEA’S CURRENT MISERY

SkySports reporter Dharmesh Seth admitted that Potter is currently struggling with the size of the squad and some players will be offloaded in the summer. Seth further said:-

“I think the big thing that’s going to happen in the summer for Chelsea is that there’s going to be a lot of departures.

“I’m sure that Graham Potter’s not finding it easy to even do his training sessions, when he’s got so many players that he needs to keep happy, let alone on a match day.

“He’s probably got his own methods, maybe thinking well, I want to do 11 v 11. Well, he could do 11 v 11 v 11 v 11, the way that the squad has been inflated over the last two transfer windows.”

Next season will be different for Chelsea and they will like to get back to their winning ways. Potter will get another season to change his fortune at Stanford Bridge.

Regardless of their high spending this season, Chelsea will again enter the transfer market for more reinforcement. Brentford’s David Raya is under the Blues radar as Potter is currently unhappy GK options. However, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Robert Sanches can emerge as another option.
