Chelsea have had a very busy January transfer window without a doubt. They were already doing the groundwork for signing even before the transfer window opened. There were a few positions that the club was hoping to fill during this transfer window. Chelsea were hoping to sign more attacking players as well as midfielders this season. They have already signed Mykhaylo Mudryk and Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid to boost their attack. Though Joao Felix is on a loan deal for six months. The Blues are believed to be in advanced talks to sign a midfielder. According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Chelsea are in the advanced stages of the transfer talks for the said midfielder. They have already signed six players so far in the transfer window. The most recent player is Noni Madueke from PSV Eindhoven. Reports claim that the Blues are in no way done yet.
Chelsea in talks with a mystery midfielder to sign this transfer window
The Blues are hoping to sign at least one midfielder this season. Preferably within this transfer window itself. Journalist O’Rourke took to Twitter to comment on this matter. He posted,
“Understand Chelsea are close to signing a new midfielder. Talks are at an advanced stage with the mystery target with Graham Potter looking to bring in a new central midfielder to add to his squad.”
He believes the Blues are close to making another signing before the transfer window ends. Signing a central midfielder has been a priority for Chelsea for quite some time now. A number of players are linked with the Blues. However, there is no concrete news as to who this mystery midfielder could be. Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and West Ham‘s Declan Rice both have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent days.
With the majority of signings stacking up the attack, Chelsea would be looking to sign new midfield players. With N’Golo Kante and Zakaria being injured, a new midfielder would be a treat to Graham Potter. Jorginho is the only available midfielder to hold the fort. Therefore the Blues fans would be hoping that the mystery midfielder could play in different midfield roles for the team.
