Transfer Guru Fabrizio Romano have claimed that Chelsea are actively working on making the Gvardiol deal happen. The 20-year-old RB Leipzig defender is currently at World Cup with his national team Croatia. The Croatian team will face Japan in the next rounds. The youngster have already played two World Cup matches and have managed to keep two clean sheets against Morocco and Belgium.

Romano Claims that Chelsea are still far from closing the deal

Romano claims that Chelsea and RB Leipzig have a good relationship going though as it stands the deal is still far from being done. Fabrizio Romano have stated in his YouTube video that they are still trying to sign the defender. Romano claimed,

“The relationship with Leipzig is very good, and this is why they are still actively working to sign Josko Gvardiol. But I can tell you that, as of today, beginning of December, it’s still not a done deal. We can’t say that it’s done for Josko Gvardiol to Chelsea; there is still some work to do.”

Chelsea have some quality defenders such as Kalidou Koulibaly and Thiago Silva, though the latter could be counted as a veteran player.

Gvardiol after the World Cup

He is one of those defenders who makes progressive passes and have dribble passes completed, it is based on his performance last season. This rare ability to play out from the back is something that the Blues will appreciate. After the World Cup, Gvardiol will have a lot of potential suitors who would want to sign him. Though Chelsea will be hoping that the good working relationship between the clubs will work in their favor and the Croatian international will arrive at Stamford Bridge.
