Chelsea are to be back in the market for World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez. Chelsea are looking keen on signing Enzo Fernandez this January transfer window. The Blues have been interested in the midfielder since the World Cup. They have tried to sign the player earlier this month. But the high release clause set by Benfica became a hurdle in their path to sign the youngster. Portuguese news outlets have now reported about Chelsea’s stance on the player. Chelsea to reignite their interest in Enzo Fernandez. The Blues were already in talks with Benfica earlier this month. But the clubs failed to agree on a deal to sign the player. Chelsea have left no stones unturned this transfer window as they splashed enough amount to sign new players. Therefore it could be expected of Todd Boehly to do the same for the Benfica midfielder.
Chelsea to make another bid for Enzo Fernandez
The player was all set to come to Stamford Bridge. But all those talks broke down after the clubs failed to come to an agreement. New reports suggest the Blues will move back in for the player. The midfielder’s contract with Benfica contains a £106m release clause. Enzo Fernandez was a breakout star for the Argentina national team at the World Cup. He was even named the Young Player of the Tournament. Benfica, therefore, remains reluctant to sell the player for a lesser price. They wish to at least keep him till the end of this season. Although the player have repeatedly told the club about his desire to join a Premier League club. Though Chelsea are currently 10th in the league table, they have spared no expense to sign the player that they so desired. They even hijacked Arsenal’s interest in Mykhailo Mudryk at the last moment.
Chelsea have even completed the signings of Joao Felix, Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke, and more. However, their midfield remains the main concern for them. The Blues are therefore keen on signing Enzo Fernandez by this month. As all these signings are expected to have an impact on their performance for the rest of the season.
