Chelsea forward Aubameynag reveals what the bench did after an outrageous winner by Connor Gallagher

Chelsea took on Crystal Palace in match day eight of the Premier League. The Blues won the match 2-1 thanks to goals by Aubameyang and Connor Gallagher. Aubameyang scored his first goal for Chelsea in the Premier League on his debut to equalize the score after being 1-0 down. Connor Gallagher won the match with an outrageous curled shot into the top corner. Incidentally, this was his first goal with Chelsea too. Connor Gallagher had an immediate impact on the game upon his substitution in the second half.

This amazing striker by Gallagher earned Potter his first three points for Chelsea. Crystal Palace were effective on the counterattacking, with Edouard slipping one past Kepa. However, Aubameyang leveled the score in the first half. Then, Connor Gallagher’s goal in the 90th minute sealed the win for Chelsea. Reacting to the shot from Connor Gallagher, Aubameyang said:

“Conor’s goal was crazy! All of us on the bench, we were jumping up everywhere because it was an amazing finish, a brilliant goal and we are really happy with the three points.”

The Chelsea manager also raved about Connor Gallagher in the post-match interview. He said:

“I really like Conor. He’s a fantastic kid who trains well every day, he’s desperate to do well and play for Chelsea and he really wants to be successful here, so that’s a great starting point.”

Gallagher played out of position a lot of the time during Thomas Tuchel‘s stay at Chelsea. However, Graham Potter has put his faith in him by playing him in his natural attacking position. Moreover, Gallagher has looked dangerous when he has played in his preferred position. Now, Gallagher will be hoping that his performance in the League will warrant him a starting place in Chelsea’s Champions League match against Milan.
