Niklas Sule’s failed contract extension talks has given Chelsea some hope to sign him next summer. The Blues were after signing a new centre-back this summer but failed in their plans. Following which a new plan was made which consisted of Niklas Sule’s name as the German has less than 12 months left in his contract.

Niklas Sule joined the German giants, Bayern Munich back in 2017 after showing promising performance for TSG Hoffenheim. Playing four seasons with Hoffenheim, Sule appeared 117 times, while scoring 8 goals besides defending. Seeing Niklas Sule perform well in the back Bayern Munich approached Hoffenheim to sign him in 2017. There was some complications at first due to his pricing but all was sorted out later.

Since joining Bayern, the centre-back has 141 appearances scoring 6 goals in all competitions, to date. While Sule has also lifted 13 trophies with the German side, which includes one Champions League and four Bundesliga titles. However, his time at Bayern Munich might end next summer with his contract ending.

Niklas Sule has a contract until June 30, 2022, and the talks of signing a new one have not been going well. It seems Sule wants a high-paying job, following Leon Goretzka’s and Joshua Kimmich’s recent high-wage contract renewal. And Bayern Munich are not considering offering a high-wage job to Sule. Following which the new contract talks are halted.

And now Chelsea seems to keep tabs on Niklas Sule’s situation, as they think of making him a new centre-back addition. If Sule fails to renew his contract until December, then Chelsea have the right to sign him on pre-contract in January. And the blues will be looking forward to that.

What will Niklas Sule bring to Chelsea?

Chelsea were in the transfer market for signing a new centre-back this summer. As their current three centre-back options are facing a problematic future. Blues captain Cesar Azpilicueta is on the wrong end being 32 years of age. While Thiago Silva follows him turning 37, and lastly Antonio Rudiger who has been linked with several clubs. Following this situation, a centre-back signing is a priority for Chelsea.

The Blues were in the race for Jules Kounde this summer but the deal fell off as Sevilla were asking a high price. While they were also in the race for Milan Skriniar and Inter Milan secured his future by offering him a contract extension. Following which Chelsea have turned there towards Niklas Sule. The German centre-back is a fit and tall defender who has the ability to join the attack also. While Chelsea might not have to spend much if he fails to agree to the extent his contract with Bayern Munich. Following which he will be available for a free transfer next summer. So, let’s wait and see if Chelsea can land Niklas Sule or not.
