Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino shares an update for the selection of Christopher Nkunku. Despite joining from RB Leipzig in summer, Nkunku is yet to make his Premier League debut. Now, Mauricio has confirmed that Nkunku is available for selection ahead of their match against Sheffield United on Saturday. The Frenchman joined the Blues for a sum of £52million. Though, he suffered a serious knee injury in the pre-season tour in USA against Borussia Dortmund. Since then, he is out of action but now will be keen on the return.

Mauricio responds on being asked about Nkunku in next Chelsea clash

On being asked about Nkunku’s availability, Pochettino told reporters that,

“Yes, can be involved. That is very good news. To be involved tomorrow and be in the squad and to feel the competition after the pre-season is good news for us. We need to be calm and quiet so not to put all the pressure on him.

Now he’s going to evolve, know the Premier League. It’s a big motivation for us, for the teammates, and the fans to see a player that should be important for us and to be in the squad for the first time.”

Chelsea stand as a mid-table team while Sheffield are at the bottom of the league, fighting for survival. However, the Argentine said that it will be a tough game to follow.

“Always it is difficult. You cannot compare games. I know very well Sheffield United and Chris and it is going to be tough.

They will be aggressive, low block and it has been difficult for us against a low block. Most important is working on our mentality and our way to play, find different solutions and be more solid and consistent.

Now for tomorrow in the way we are going to approach the game. The signal is I lose my voice as we were shouting a lot. It’s in the mind of the squad and the team. However, we are going to fight and everything that works and to succeed, from our side we are motivated to find a way to perform.”
