Chelsea close to agreeing a €20m deal for the skillful Brazilian striker

Pochettino

Chelsea are getting ready to secure the transfer of the 18-year old striker, Deivid Washington. The Blues have had a busy transfer market this summer. Pochettino’s arrival has started a new era for Chelsea. As a result of which, the club has experienced a massive turnover this summer.

According to Goal.com, Chelsea are ready to pay €20 million for Deivid. Santos, along with Chelsea are very interested in this deal. The player also reportedly feels ‘excited‘ about heading to Stamford Bridge this summer. Therefore, both the clubs are planning to get the deal done as soon as possible.

Deivid was just recently identified as a target by Chelsea. Pochettino and the club have been in search for a striker the entire summer. They recently decided to leave Lukaku completely out of the squad, as the striker hopes for a move to Juventus this summer. Chelsea and Juventus have been in talks for a potential swap deal for Vlahovic and Lukaku. However, there have been no further updates about the deal, suggesting that it might be quite complicated.

Why do Chelsea want to sign Deivid Washington?

Deivid’s rise to glory has been quite impressive. The Brazillian became a part of Santos’ senior team in just April 2023. He has scored 2 goals in 9 games so far. His versatility as an attacker makes him a great asset. He mostly prefers to play as a striker, down the middle. However, the player possesses the ability to play in both the wings as well.

Also while Chelsea are dealing with Juventus for Vlahovic, they have decided to sign Deivid Washington in the meantime. They have been in a desperate need of a striker. This need became even more crucial after the club announced that Christopher Nkunku is set to miss atleast 4 months due to a knee surgery. With Nicholas Jackson now left as the only available striker in the squad, a striker’s need has become very crucial for Chelsea. Therefore, the signing of Deivid will provide another striking option for Pochettino, hence providing a big relief to the club. Chelsea will hope to complete the signing before their clash against Liverpool on Saturday.
