Chelsea now confirmed several new changes to their hierarchy as Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over the reins. At the end of the month of May, a consortium led by Todd Boehly confirmed him as the new owner. Also, the takeover officially ended the 19-year old ownership of the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.

Furthermore, now with new ownership, the club will make changes in the officials. This will also see Marina Granovskaia exit the club after a long, long time. However, Boehly is actively participating in the appointment of new club officials. Along with Marina, Bruce Buck will also step down from his role of chairman for the Stamford Bridge outfit.

The club now confirmed that Marina will exit who for so many years was an influential figure in negotiating transfer deals for the club. However, Boehly will now take on the role of interim sporting director. Marina will assist him for the summer until the club finds a long-term replacement for her.

Statement for Chelsea fans from the owners

A statement issued by Todd Boehly read as follows: “As custodians of Chelsea FC, we now begin executing our long-term vision and plan for the club, creating an outstanding experience for its passionate, loyal fans, and continuing to challenge for top honours in line with Chelsea FC’s decorated history. Working together, side-by-side, we are firmly committed to winning, both on and off the pitch. For us, that effort has begun.”

Co-controlling owners of Chelsea and co-founders and managing partners of Clearlake Capital, Behdad Eghbali and Jose E. Feliciano added:

“As the new era of the Boehly-Clearlake ownership begins, we are excited to build a championship organisation and grow Chelsea FC as a global platform. We look forward to backing Thomas Tuchel, Emma Hayes and their teams, and will provide proactive, unbending support to make Chelsea’s loyal fans and our partners proud.”
