Chelsea have a huge task in upcoming days. The Premier League side hoping to improve next season have made some key changes. Mauricio Pochettino who managed the blues for one season has parted ways with the club and is rumoured to be replaced by Enzo Maresca. Along with Managers certain places on the pitch also need filling. Thiago Silva has left the Stamford bridge leaving a void in defense. Chelsea to fill the void could be seen making a move for Jules Kounde. According to rumours Enzo Maresca seem to be a huge admirer of French international and may have informed Chelsea about his interest.
Chelsea are long time admirers of Kounde. The club tried to sign Kounde in 2022 from Sevilla after monitoring his high quality form for the La Liga side. Unfortunately their plan was hijacked by Barcelona. Now again two years later, the blues are linked with 25 year old defender for a possible move to Stanford Bridge. Chelsea who need a top quality defender to replace Thiago Silva may use Kounde to strengthen their defense.
Jules Kounde to join Chelsea
Barcelona hijacked many of the Chelsea’s plans in 2022. It was a trending topic across all social media platforms. Kounde was one of those signings by Barcelona. However Barca are currently facing Financial crises. To overcome the crises, Barca are prepared to sell the French international. Some of the Premier League clubs are interested in Kounde with Chelsea being one of them.
According to CaughtOffside, Enzo Maresca who is expected to take charge of Chelsea has informed about his interest in Kounde to Chelsea. The Italian manager wants Chelsea to sign Kounde in upcoming transfer window. After failing to sign Kounde in 2022, Chelsea could be seen again to go after him this window. However they will not be the only club interested. Manchester United are also linked heavily with French international.
Chelsea believe that Kounde could do well in the Premier League. Kounde has already shown his worth in Sevilla and Barcelona. He also is important player for France when it comes to international football. Kounde will also like to play for Chelsea as they are one of the biggest club in the world. Premier League is one of the most prestigious league in the world with Chelsea being one to the top six clubs in it. This could be also beneficial to Kounde’s career if the deal seems to happen.
Kounde prefers to play as a right centre back. However in Barcelona he plays mostly as a right back in is equally effective in that position too. Chelsea could use this versatility of Jules Kounde if they decide to go after him. However it will be crucial for the blues to make moves as they are in risk to breach profitability and sustainability rules.
Manchester United linked heavily with Kounde
Manchester United are also in need of centre back after the departure of Raphael Varane. United need a player who plays as a centre back but can also adapt as right back. Kounde is a perfect fit for their requirement. INEOS are planning to make a move for 25 year old defender to replace his fellow France national teammate.
Kounde’s Barcelona contract
Jules Kounde signed for Barcelona in 2022. He was offered a 5 year contract making him a Barca player until 2027. Barca signed Kounde for €55 million from Sevilla and his release clause was set for €1 billion by the Catalan club. However due to financial crises it is now reported that Barca are ready to sell the French defender for around €50 million.
