Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso spills out his wish

Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has admitted that he would like to sign for a club in La Liga. The left-back has enjoyed quite a good season with the Blues. He made 36 appearances for the London club this season. Moreover, seven times he came off the bench in all competitions as a substitute player.

However, he got regular call-ups because of Ben Chilwell’s absence who is out since November with a knee injury. Still, Thomas Tuchel had faith in him and did not sign a replacement player in the January transfer window.

There has been speculation for some time over Alonso’s links with Barcelona. It was said that Alonso wanted to sign for Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

He only played in the La Liga once before, that too as a substitute player. Other than that, he has played in the Bolton Wanderers, Fiorentina, Sunderland, and Chelsea over the years. His contract is set to expire next year. However, it seems that he would want to leave Stamford Bridge before that.

What did Marcos Alonso about his interest in playing in Spain?

He told Onda Cero,” I have one more year of my contract. I have already said that I would like it, but in the end, it does not depend entirely on me. It is clear that the desire to one day play in Spain is there.”

Reports in recent weeks have claimed that Alonso has already agreed on a contract with Barca on personal terms. Moreover, it is said that Chelsea are also willing to leave Alonso this year.

However, there is still no offer on the table from Barca’s side now as Barca try to close on other deals. We get to know that Barca have already negotiated a deal with his Chelsea compatriot Andreas Christensen. Moreover, Cesar Azpilicueta is also heavily linked to the Catalan club in recent weeks.
