Chelsea Drops a £70m Bombshell for Arsenal’s Dream Target

Pochettino

Chelsea has wasted no time in their summer business by reportedly submitting a bid for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. Solidifying him as their top target while simultaneously snubbing Arsenal’s interest. ESPN’s recent report highlights Chelsea’s proactive approach in an attempt to bounce back from a disappointing season in West London.

Chelsea finds themselves in a challenging situation, currently positioned 12th in the league. Despite substantial investments in new players over the past year. The managerial carousel has seen both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter dismissed, with Frank Lampard temporarily taking charge. With Mauricio Pochettino rumored to assume the helm in the upcoming summer, he faces a monumental task ahead.

One pressing matter for Pochettino is the daunting task of streamlining Chelsea’s bloated squad before even considering further additions. However, the club has wasted no time in identifying Dusan Vlahovic as a prime target. Outpacing other interested teams, including Arsenal, in the pursuit of his signature.

Arsenal does not prioritize signing a new striker this summer, focusing their attention elsewhere in the transfer market. However, the possibility of Arsenal making a move for a striker remains open if a favorable opportunity arises as the transfer window progresses.

The report from ESPN states that ‘Chelsea have made Dusan Vlahovic their No. 1 target for the summer, making an €80 million [£70m] offer for the Juventus striker, sources told ESPN.’

Arsenal haven’t ruled out a move for Vlahovic, but midfield options are what they will initially be focusing on.

Declan Rice and Ilkay Gundogan have both been closely linked with a move to The Emirates.

Chelsea have Arsenal as rivals?

Mikel Arteta’s squad doesn’t need a huge amount of investment this summer.

With the average age of the squad in mind, Mikel Arteta is hopeful that Arsenal can continue their progression without making exorbitant spending. The acquisition of Gabriel Jesus last summer has already provided Arteta with a proficient forward who can adeptly lead the team’s attacking line in the future.

Arsenal has experienced bidding wars with Chelsea in the past and would prefer to avoid a similar situation with Dusan Vlahovic, reminiscent of Mykhaylo Mudryk’s transfer saga. While the talented forward could potentially end up in the Premier League, it seems that the Emirates Stadium is not currently his most probable destination.

However, it’s important to note that it is still early in the transfer window, with the official opening scheduled for next month. Therefore, the situation can evolve and change as clubs actively engage in negotiations and pursue their respective targets.
