Enzo Maresca is reported very close to join Chelsea as new manager. The Italian manager is finally set to replace Mauricio Pochettino and take charge of blues. However Chelsea fans are not happy to accept Leicester City manager as their head coach.
Over the past month Chelsea have been linked with various managers across the europe. Despite finishing the season on a good note Mauricio Pochettino has been sacked by Chelsea board. The decesion was announced to be based on mutual understanding. Pochettino ended the season with five straight victories and helped Chelsea to finish on sixth position in Premier League. Chelsea were seeming to be top favourites to qualify for the europa league. However the defeat of Manchester City in FA cup final destroyed their plans. United earned a spot in Europa league sending Chelsea to Conference league.
The Blues were linked with some of their former managers along with some top talents across the Europe. Recently Maresca’s name was linked and within days he has became the favourite to land the job at Stamford bridge. Maresca who helped Leicester to earn promotion to Premier League now seems to join one of the greatest club in the league.
Chelsea fans unhappy with Maresca
It seems that Chelsea fans are not happy to welcome the Italian manager to stamford bridge. It has not been a good response across the social media for Chelsea’s decesion about Maresca. Those who wanted Pochettino to be sacked are now wishing the Argentine never left. Its because of the results Pochettino achieved in last months but is also due to the list of potential managers linked to replace him.
Talk Chelsea recently asked fans about their choice of manager through polls. Enzo Maresca seems to be second last choice by Blue fans and only Thomas Frank has less votes than him. Ruben Amorim received the most likes followed by Roberto De Zerbi.
Enzo Maresca who worked with Pep Guardiola in the past did a great job with Leicester. The Italian boss managed to gain promotion and bring the Foxes back into premier league. Along with that he won the Championship title by securing 97 points. Leicester and their fans were very happy with Maresca and were hoping to continue this good form in next season as well. However the Maresca seems to look for bigger challenges and is eager to manager Chelsea. Despite signing three year deal last season with Foxes, the 44 year manager is now in advanced talks with Chelsea board. Its been now said that Chelsea are now ready to complete the deal and pay for Leicester soon.
Who do Chelsea fans want
Ever since the news about Pochettino leaving Chelsea broke, the fans have begged the board to bring back Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel who recently has been sacked by Bayern was favourite choice by Chelsea fans. The Blues won’t forget the season they had under Tuchel where they were crowned as champions of europe. However its doesn’t seem like Chelsea will be bringing back the German manager.
Two other former managers who Chelsea fans love will also be looking for job this transfer window. Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte both managed to win Premier League with Chelsea and are still loved by the fans. They were also linked with the blues but the rumours were never too strong.
Ruben Amorim is the manager the fans will like to see at Stamford bridge amongst the recent list of available options. The second manager who got most likes was Roberto De Zerbi. The third most preferred option according to Chelsea fans is Kieran McKenna. However the most possible candidate currently to replace Pochettino seems to be Enzo Maresca.
