Chelsea finally confirms Djordje Petrovic as their new goalkeeper

After a long period of incertitude, Djordje Petrovic (Đorđe Petrović) is finally a part of the Chelsea team.

Pochettino has already clarified the matter during his pre-match press conference scheduled ahead of the game against Luton. As the Blues manager informed the present journalists he will be adding another goalkeeper. The first being Robert Sánchez, who was clearly not enough to replace Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga who are in service of other clubs currently.

New England Revolution set their player to be no more than £6 million, which was very surprising. As Chelsea’s initial bid was more than double, resting at around £12,5 million. Such a stunt carried the risk of appearing desperate, which may have caused the club to refuse the bid in hopes of a larger sum, as the transfer window is nearing its end.

The situation may seem unlikely, however Liverpool is currently suffering the exact same thing by Bayern Munich’s hands. After betting £41 million for the £20 million rated Ryan Gravenberch, Munich rejected the Reds’ offer.

Luckily, New England Revolution accepted the deal and will be signing very soon. The 23 year old’s skillset within Chelsea is news which brings excitement.

What Petrovic brings to Chelsea

There is no denying the goalkeeper’s talent. The young man possesses both focus and consistency, with reflexes that allow him to block both long and short shots. In fact, the player’s records should be more than enough, as a third of his games are clean sheets.

Chelsea seems very certain of Djordje’s place in the club, unlike Michael Olise, which proved that no signing is complete unless the players arrives. Liverpool and the Revolution are yet to decide if the player will be leaving permanantly or will simply be a loan. In any case, the player’s future seems bright either way.
