Chelsea have signed English striker Jimmy Jay Morgan from Southampton

Pochettino

Chelsea have announced the signing of young English striker Jimmy Jay Morgan from Southampton.

The 17-year-old signed for an initial fee of £3m, plus a further £3m in add-ons.

The highly rated youngster has been out at St.Mary’s but will now strengthen Blues academy teams. The Young striker has signed a contract until June 2026.

Morgan returns to London having previously part of the academy at the age of 8 before returning to Southampton at 11 due to commuting difficulties from South Coast.

He trained with Southampton’s senior team and made the bench for the first-team cup games. But failed to make debut at St.Mary’s.

Morgan will now have to impress in Chelsea’s academy before joining Blue’s first team, but that looks quite difficult with Chelsea bringing Mykhailo Mudryk, Enzo Fernandez, and João Felix in January.

The Youngster joins Blues after an impressive run, scoring six goals and five assists in 13 appearances for the Saint’s youth team this season.

Earlier this month, Standard Sports reported, Morgan refuses to sign a new contract with Southampton despite having 18 months left in his current contract.

Blues are keen on investing in the academy as part of their Vision 2030 plans and the new owner, Todd Boehly is ready to splash the cash on the academy graduates.

Chelsea’s head of youth development and recruitment Jim Fraser applauded Morgan’s ability and skills and further stated:-

“In signing Jimmy-Jay we have added a player with good potential to our Academy squads.

His ability marks him out as an exciting striker and we are delighted he has chosen Chelsea for this next, important stage of his development.”

Chelsea are looking to strengthen their squad depth for the future.
