Chelsea has joined the race along with Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain to sign Atletico Madrid and Portugal Forward Joao Felix in the Winter Transfer in January as per the Spanish source Marca.
The report also revealed that Felix already told the Spanish club about his departure and as per the internal source Chelsea might have established contact with the player’s agent regarding the move.
Chelsea’s form in the 2022/23 season is not impressive so far, they are struggling offensively as well as defensively, in fact in the last five official games, they won only one and lost all four. They sign Aubameyang the last summer but he scored only a goal in six league appearances. This season, Chelsea is the team who has scored the least goals in the top half of the Premier League table. So, they desperately need reinforcement in their squad so that in the second part of the season Chelsea boss, Graham Potter can grab one of the four spots, which is needed for the Champions League qualifications.
Signing Portuguese forward Joao Felix would be a valuable asset
The young star of Atletico Madrid has impressive skills & talent, he already had 6 goal contributions this season in the league games. He is a versatile player but signing him would not be as cheap as reports claimed because Bayern Munich has already offered €100M to Atletico Madrid to get this deal.
Chelsea’s target for this winter transfer market
As of now, Felix is the only star whose name has been linked with West London Club. Though Chelsea have a strong squad but they still need some reform in their attack. That is why the Blues are eagerly waiting for the winter transfer so that they can strengthen their squad for the second phase of the season after the cover of the FIFA World Cup.
Felix has scored 67 goals and provided 35 assists. He has a goal contribution every 132 minutes over his entire career so far. Currently, he is representing his country in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and gave a magnificent performance in the game against Ghana and Uruguay in the Group stage of the World Cup. Against Ghana, he scored a goal, completed 100% long passes, and won 50% of his duels while against Uruguay he had a decent stat with 77% passing accuracy and won 50% of his ground as well as aerial duels. The 2-0 win against Uruguay advances them to the Round of 16 in the FIFA World Cup.
Chelsea fans know that signing Felix in January will be a major coup for Chelsea, especially in scoring goals but this race will be very competitive as Europe’s elite clubs such as PSG, Bayern Munich, and Manchester United are ready to offer a tempting proposal for the 24 years old Portuguese forward. So, Todd Boehly should make an alluring offer to Atletico, which they can’t refuse.
