Chelsea learn Osimhen asking price: Good fit for the blues?

According to reports, European champions Chelsea have learned the asking price for Napoli and Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen. Napoli have reportedly set an asking price of around £66 million.

Victor Osimhen joined Napoli back in the summer of 2020 for a reported fee of €71.3 million. The Nigerian striker struggled in front of the goal last term. He only manger 10 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions last term. Not a return you expect after paying such a huge transfer fee in the summer.

But this term, Osimhen has completely turned things around in front of the goal. The striker has scored nine goals in just 14 appearances in all competitions. On top of that, he has also assisted two goals this term. (stats via Tranfermarkt)

Currently, the striker is on the sidelines, nursing an injury he picked up against Inter Milan back in November. Osimhen is expected to be out for another two months. Osimhen also missed out on the Nigerian AFCON squad due to the injury.

With the sort of form Osimhen has been in, interest from other major European teams has also increased in the forward. El Nacional have reported that Napoli have placed a price tag of £66 million on the Nigerian forward.

Romelu Lukaku set to move away from Chelsea?

With Romelu Lukaku’s recent controversial interview with Sky Italia, his future is still a big question mark. Although he came out and publicly pledged his commitment to the Blues. He has also started the last games in league and cup. But his future still remains in the air.

With the recent comments from Lukaku, Paris Saint-Germain are keen on the forward’s services. PSG look set to lose Kylian Mbappe next summer on a free transfer next summer and may make a move for the Belgium international as a potential replacement.

Is Victor Osimhen a good replacement for Lukaku at Chelsea?

Osimhen has been in good form this term, but his underlying number are also brilliant. The forward has averaged 3.3 shots, 0.7 key passes and has been fouled 1.36times per match in Serie A this term. On top of that on average get gets dispossessed only 0.6 times per game in Serie A this term. (stats via Whoscored)

The 23-year-old is under contract until 2025 with Napoli. If Thomas Tucheland Chelsea manages to land the forward in the next transfer windows, he would add a new dimension to the blues attack and can be an ideal replacement for Romelu Lukaku if he decides to look for a move away from the club.
