Premier League giants Chelsea and Liverpool have shown keen interest in signing Newcastle’s French ace Allan Saint-Maximin. The 24-year-old has been in impressive form. He kicked off the 2021-22 Premier League season scoring twice and assisting a further three in six games.

The Frenchman has contributed 9 goals with 14 assists in 63 outings for the Magpies. He made the move from Nice in August 2019.

The Magpies have struggled this new season. In their opening six games of the season, they have registered just three points with no wins as of yet. However, Saint-Maximin has proven to be the one bright spot for Steve Bruce’s side.

His two-goal contributions have been vital as well as ending up being equalisers against both Southampton and Leeds.

Though, a statement from the winger worried fans. At the end of last season, the Frenchman stated that he wants to be fighting for trophies.

Everton has also expressed an interest in the 24-year-old. Reportedly, the Frenchman was to make a £40,000,000 switch to Goodison Park. Brushing aside the rumours, Newcastle were determined to keep hold of their star man.

Both Chelsea and Liverpool regard the attacker very highly. The two have a ‘great interest in him. Newcastle will be facing a battle to keep hold of him in 2022.

Though, Steve Bruce’s side will not be open to negotiating in January. They would only be prepared to enter into transfer discussions next summer.

Saint-Maximin’s deal has five years left to run. The Frenchman could be available next summer with a possible bidding war erupting among Chelsea, Liverpool & Everton.
