Chelsea Look To Make These Two Big Moves

Todd Boehly recently completed his 4.25 billion pound takeover of Chelsea. And right off the bat, it seems that he will be going big in the transfer market.  Sunday World claims that the Blues will be looking to sign Jules Kounde and Lautaro Martinez in the coming weeks.

The two players are superstars, and it would be a tall task to get them to Stamford Bridge. But as Boehly has shown in his previous ventures in sport, he is not afraid to spend big. Players like Martinez and Kounde are capable of raising the level of any team up a notch. They both would be blockbuster moves and a statement of intent by the new owner.

Chelsea are set to lose a number of defenders this summer. Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilecueta, and Marcos Alonso are all expected to leave the club in the summer. They all formed an integral part of the backline that won the Champions League the previous season. With their imminent departure, the onus is on Tuchel to rebuild the side. Jules Kounde will be expensive, but a worthy heir to club captain Azpilecueta. His ball-playing ability is fabulous, and he can easily slot in at right-back as well. Any team would be lucky to have him.

The Verdict On The Two Chelsea Targets

On the attacking front, Chelsea have some chopping and changing to do. Players like Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Romelu Lukaku were bought for a lot of money, but they have not lived up to the standards expected at Chelsea. Perhaps it would be a good idea to cash in on them while their stock is still high and experiment with another young, proven striker in Martinez.

Signing either of those players is a huge achievement for any club. If Chelsea actually manage to pull off this double swoop, one can easily say that the Boehly era has got off to a bang. Chelsea can challenge the likes of Liverpool and City for sure with these two additions to their squad
