Chelsea have agreed on a deal to sign Alex Matos, an 18-year-old midfielder from Norwich City. The highly-rated youngster is set to join the Blues on a free transfer and is expected to add great value to the team’s midfield. In addition to that, Matos has been highly praised by scouts and experts alike. He is one of the most promising young players in England right now. He will be joining a strong Chelsea side who are looking to build on their recent successes and could be an important part of the team’s future success.

There was quite a lot of spending from the blues in the January transfer window. In fact, people went on to say that the Mid-season transfer window spending in Europe was led by only one team – Chelsea. The Blues splashed more than €300 million on eight players including the likes of Enzo Fernandez (€121m) & Mykhailo Mudryk (€70m).

Is Matos the right signing for Chelsea?

Graham Potter, the Chelsea boss has been under quite a lot of pressure of late due to his side’s poor form. The blues currently sit in 10th position on the Premier League table. Spending another £20 million on a young prospect will surely lead to more questions amongst the fans regarding whether Potter is the right manager for their team. But, fans can rest assured that Chelsea would make a major coup with the move because they are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming Premier League season. Matos has been a standout performer for Norwich City, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists in the Championship last season. He has also managed to provide 3 assists in the premier league this season. Moreover, Chelsea’s attack could greatly benefit from his creative passing ability and strong work ethic, which he is known for.

Chelsea fans will undoubtedly be excited at the prospect of seeing Matos in action next season. They will expect him to prove to be a key figure in their push for honors.
