Chelsea have cooled their interest in the Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. They are looking for a new striker and look at Lukaku as the only viable option. The former Chelsea star Lukaku could return to the Premier League soon. As Chelsea plans to bid a massive sum of money. The Blues are set to make a bid of £102m along with left-back Marcos Alonso.

Why did Chelsea choose Lukaku?

Lukaku, who left Chelsea permanently in 2014 when he moved to Everton, has had two successful years at the San Siro, scoring 64 goals and providing 19 assists in 95 appearances across all competitions.

The striker also helped Inter win their first Scudetto after nine years of Juventus dominance. They initially wanted to land Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund have made it extremely clear that they are not willing to sell the striker. The 21-year-old netted 40 goals across all competitions last time out.

A decade after they first signed the 28-year-old from Anderlecht, Chelsea’s board is working on a deal to bring him back.

Chelsea have already had two bids rejected by Inter and are now planning a third bid. Chelsea’s third bid would be around £105million for the Inter Milan striker, who fired his side to Scudetto glory last season. This transfer would make him the most expensive player in Premier League history.

Despite having already sold right-back Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain, Inter is still looking to sell players to reduce their wage bill.

According to Sky in Italy Chelsea remain determined to sign Lukaku. A third bid would include left-back Marcos Alonso joining the Italian Champions Inter.

Roman Abramovich is said to be a huge fan of Lukaku, as the Russian billionaire is “personally driving the push to bring” the striker back to Stamford Bridge.
