Chelsea plans to try and sign Edson Alvarez again after their previous offer was rejected. Chelsea’s attention is turned to their first match back in the Premier League. But they will also be looking in the transfer market to sign new players. The new owners had a very busy summer since they took over the club. Furthermore, the spending is not slowing down any time soon for the club. Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly was very interested in Edson Alvarez. Reports suggest that he told the player that he will come back for Edson Alvarez again in the future. Chelsea might push for signing him again in this January transfer window.

Edson Alvarez might get an offer from Chelsea again this transfer window

According to The Athletic, Chelsea had their £43m offer rejected by the player’s club Ajax. However, reports claim that Chelsea is likely to try to sign Edson Alvarez again. Although according to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea might look to reinforce their midfield elsewhere. He claimed,

“Midfield reinforcements are also planned. Brighton are warding clubs off Argentina’s World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister. Paul Barber is not planning for a January sale. Brighton’s aim is to keep hold of Mac Allister until at least 2024 but several top European clubs circling.”

He further continued to comment,

“Ajax’s Edson Alvarez remains on Chelsea’s radar. He wanted the move last summer and failed to turn up to training to try and force it. As reported, Todd Boehly told him Chelsea would be back in January. Now up to new recruitment team if they follow through.”

Edson Alvarez have been amazing at Ajax and is surely worth looking at by Chelsea. With both N’Golo Kante and Jorginho being out of contract this summer, Chelsea will be looking to sign more talented midfielders. It might not be that easy to sign the player as selling Alvarez will come as a huge blow to Ajax. However if Chelsea manages to make the right offer, things might turn their way.
