According to sources from Football Insider, Nicolas Jackson, Chelsea recent signing, decided to end his holiday early and return to pre-season training at the club. He has already made a strong impression on everyone during training. While Chelsea’s international players were in schedule to join later this week. Jackson took the initiative to arrive on Tuesday to ensure he is in top shape for the upcoming season.
To secure the signing of Nicolas Jackson, Mauricio Pochettino’s team triggered his release clause. Which was in estimation to be around £34 million. This allowed them to finalize his arrival at the club.
Following an unsuccessful medical examination at Bournemouth during the January transfer window. Jackson at Chelsea experienced a remarkable run of impressive performances in the latter half of the 2022-23 season. It was reported that Bournemouth had initially reached an agreement to acquire him for £20 million. However, due to concerns regarding a hamstring injury, the deal was ultimately abandoned.
Chelsea and their craving for success
In the last eight matches of the La Liga season, Jackson displayed outstanding form by scoring nine goals and providing two assists. Throughout the 2022-23 campaign, he accumulated a total of 13 goals and five assists in 38 appearances across various competitions. Despite being 21 years old, Jackson possesses the versatility to excel both as a central striker and as an effective player on either flank. Additionally, he still has three years remaining on his contract with Villarreal.
Following their 12th-place finish last season, Chelsea will not be participating in European competitions in the upcoming 2023-24 campaign.
There have been numerous speculations surrounding Chelsea on the potential departures of current forwards such as Romelu Lukaku, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech, and others from Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window.
On another note, a source has suggested that Chelsea might end up regretting accepting an offer. Although further details regarding this revelation were not provided.
