Chelsea not keen to sell Hakim Ziyech to Borussia Dortmund

Chelsea are hesitant to sell Hakim Ziyech in January, despite Borussia Dortmund’s desire.

The Blues are prepared to maintain Hakim Ziyech’s services in the forthcoming January transfer window. According to a new report from Calciomercato, the playmaker has been courted by several teams around Europe. But it looks that the reigning European champions are not ready to let him go just yet.

This isn’t the first time Chelsea has been hesitant to let a peripheral player leave. Borussia Dortmund was interested in Callum Hudson-Odoi earlier in the summer transfer window, but Thomas Tuchel rejected the move. Lack of depth was highlighted by the German tactician as a factor for denying the striker the opportunity to transfer to Germany.

Hudson-Odoi has now established himself as an important member of Chelsea’s squad. Particularly in light of the injuries to many key players, including Christian Pulisic. Ziyech, on the other hand, has not had the best of luck. Sliding behind Mason Mount and Kai Havertz in the pecking order.

So far, the Moroccan international has appeared in just five Premier League games, with only two of them being starts. His problems at Stamford Bridge under Tuchel have sparked suspicion over his long-term future at the club. Particularly given the fact that he has a plethora of suitors.

Indeed, Borussia Dortmund has emerged as the latest team interested in signing the former Ajax youngster in January. Ziyech has also been linked with a transfer to other European heavyweights, like FC Barcelona, in addition to the Bundesliga giants.

Is it the end of Hakim Ziyech at Chelsea

Atletico Madrid have also named them in the interested list for signing the Chelsea striker in January. The defending La Liga champions are looking to bolster their attack after letting go Saul Niguez this summer.

However, Saul has a difficult time adjusting to life in England and Pulisic suffers from injuries. Following which it appears Chelsea are not ready to let Ziyech go just yet. Tuchel is determined to maintain hold of them Moroccan despite his struggles in the Premier League. The German coach hopes that Ziyech could be valuable later in the season.

It’s unclear how this decision would affect Ziyech, who is understandably dissatisfied at Stamford Bridge due to a lack of playing time. While this would show how the player wishes to move forward in his career. While there isn’t a lot of time left for the player to get a better contract, this is so as the player is currently 28-year-old. Due to this, he is anticipated to hit his prime in the upcoming months as a forward.

The player isn’t as preferred as he was last season by the manager. Due to this, there has been a massive dip in the player’s time on the pitch. If Ziyech wishes to make his mark in the sport he could force a move away from Chelsea. As currently, the club wishes to keep him as a player to add squad depth and not a starter. If the player wishes to add more titles under his name, he could remain at the club while not playing a major part in their wins. Only time will tell the intentions of the player.
