Chelsea have finished the season in a great fashion securing five straight wins. However it was not enough for Chelsea board to back Mauricio Pochettino. As a result Pochettino and Chelsea parted ways with mutual understanding. The Blues are now very close to announce Enzo Maresca as their new manager. Along with manager the club also needs to find the potential replacement for Thiago Silva who left them after their last game this season. Chelsea are now linked with Tosin Adarabioyo.
Chelsea finished sixth in Premier League and were favourites to achieve spot in Europa League. However United spoiled their plans by winning FA Cup and taking their spot. As a result the blues will be now seen in conference league. Pochettino’s departure was followed by rumours of some top managers with a move to Stamford bridge. Enzo Maresca who was the latest to join the rumours now seems to be top favourite of Chelsea board.
Enzo Maresca soon to join Chelsea
Maresca spent his early years of coaching career as Pep Guardiola’s assistant. Last year he signed a three year contract to become Leicester City’s manager. Leicester City who were just relegated to Championship seemed soon to have transformed. Maresca ignited a spark in the team and achieved promotion for the club along with winning the title.
His performance gained attention of Chelsea and was involved in talks with them. The London club was impressed with Italian manager and soon the talks were reported to have been advanced. Recently its reported that its just a matter of time that Chelsea will announce Maresca as their new manager. Chelsea board liked the tactics and the way Maresca thinks about the squad. They think the 44 year old is perfect fit for Chelsea. Maresca too wants to join Chelsea as he is looking for bigger challenges. The Blues are now working on potential transfer fee that is to be submitted to Leicester.
Along with change in manager, Chelsea also need to find potential candidate to replace Thiago Silva. There has been a linking recently between Fulham’s defender Tosin Adarabioyo and Chelsea. The 26 year old could be seen to take Thiago Silva’s place at Stamford Bridge next season.
Chelsea to go after Adarabioyo
Tosin Adarabioyo currently is a Fulham FC player. However his contract is going to expire on 30 June of this year. Adarabioyo seems to leave Fulham as a free agent and many big clubs will be interested to stell him for free. Chelsea who are currently struggling to stay out of breaching profitability and sustainability rules could use this as a huge opportunity. Along with a solid defender it could help them to keep their financial books clean.
Adarabioyo is 6 feet and 5 inches which makes him an ideal defender. His physique helps him in winning most of the ariel duels. Along with headed clearances Adarabioyo also can score goals with his head from set pieces. The 26 year old defender has been said to have very good timing when it comes to defending. Adarabioyo is also very fast and has good control over the ball. Adarabioyo’s former manager Pep Guardiola when he was at Manchester City, has praised him for his presence of mind on the pitch.
The 26 year old has current market value of €20 million according to Transfermarkt. Hence its obvious that many clubs will be after him to grab him for free. Currently except Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United are also interested in 26 year defender. Chelsea could get a good addition in their squad if they are able to hijack plans of United and Newcastle.
