Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah could leave Chelsea in January. He is linked with a move to Aston Villa in the upcoming transfer window. Aston Villa, among many other clubs, had expressed an interest in the Chelsea defender. Villa wants to sign Trevoh Chalobah as a replacement for the injured Diego Carlos.

Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest, and Leeds United had all expressed their interest in signing Chalobah. However, Chelsea decided to keep the player on as cover for veteran defender Thiago Silva. Ex-manager Thomas Tuchel said that it was an “easy choice” to keep the player. He said:

Trevoh plays as a direct replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly who is suspended, so it was an easy decision for us

Chalobah had his breakout for Chelsea in the 2021-22 season. He was in magnificent form, scoring a goal in his debut against Crystal Palace. He was an integral player of the squad last season. However, Chalobah has seen his game time at Stamford Bridge slip away after the arrival of the defensive reinforcement

Fabrizio Romano claims Chalobah will leave Chelsea

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that Trevoh Chalobah could leave Chelsea in the January window. The main reason for his departure is the lack of game time at the club. Romano said:

“From what I’m told there are already some conversations around with clubs interested in Chalobah. And so, there is a chance for him to leave Chelsea in January. We will see if it will be a loan with a buy option, or a loan with a buy back clause, or just a straight loan. He’s still hoping to play more – and that’s why he could leave if nothing changes.
