Chelsea player rating: Blues manage to scrape through West Ham in London derby

Chelsea were engaged in back-to-back London derbies as they hosted West Ham this time at the Stamford Bridge. However, the Blues managed to win this one, unlike against Arsenal. But the win was not an easy affair for Chelsea as they had to wait until the last minute to find the net. The rating for every Chelsea player is here.

Jorginho could have put Chelsea into lead after Dawson brought down Lukaku in the penalty box. The West Ham defender was given marching orders after VAR consultation.

However, Jorginho’s weak penalty straight down was easily collected by Fabianski. Christian Pulisic was man of the hour as he scored a 90th minute winner coming off the bench. Marcos Alonso’s cut-back was turned in by the American international to clinch all three points.

Chelsea player rating: Defence

Edouard Mendy- 7/10

Mostly untroubled. However, did come-up with 2 saves, and distribution was quite commendable.

Trevor Chalobah- 6/10

Decent game as he was a last minute replacement of Christensen who pulled out minutes before the kick-off.

Thiago Silva- 7/10

Commanding at the back and his headed pass released Lukaku free on goal only to be brought down by Dawson resulting in Chelsea penalty.

Cesar Azpilicueta- 4/10

Another game to forget for the captain. Looked quite off-pace, and gave the ball in away in dangerous situations.

Midfield

Ruben Loftus-Cheek- 8/10

Loftus-Cheek has hit a massive purple patch. A whopping 4 key-passes to his name and could have even grabbed an assist or two with his daunting crosses.

N’Golo Kante- 9/10

Finally a Kante-like performance. Dominated the midfield, decent contribution in attack with 4 shots, won all his tackles, aerial duels. An all-round display. Highest rating for the Chelsea player.

Jorginho- 3/10

Its a shame he completed 90 minutes. Boring passes and a horrible penalty miss. However, some redemption in 100% dribble, tackle, ground duels success rate. Still lowest rating among any other Chelsea player.

Marcos Alonso- 7/10

Alonso seems to have more influence on the game from last few games. Constantly involved here as well, and provided the assist for Pulisic’s winner.

Attack

Mason Mount- 5/10

Mount’s performance here was similar to the one against Arsenal in the last game. Hit patches of good football rather than his routine of 90 minutes of enthralling display.

Ka Havertz- 4/10

A massive dip in his form. Ghosted in the first-half and mediocre in the second. As a result, subbed with 15 minutes remaining.

Timo Werner- 5/10

Should have scored with Chelsea’s first clear sight at the goal. Moreover, with 5 shots to his name, its really surprising he didn’t put his name on the score-sheet.

Subs

Hakim Ziyech- 5/10

Replaced Loftus-Cheek in the 76th minute. Minimum effect after coming on.

Christian Pulisic- 7/10

Replaced Werner in the 76th minute. An instant hit after taking the field. Pulisic did all the right things, scoring a late winner as well in the process.

Romelu Lukaku- 6/10

Replaced Havertz in the 76th minute. Lukaku’s work-rate after coming on was exceptional. Furthermore, smartly won the penalty and a red card for Dawson.
