Here we have with us the Chelsea player ratings as they fail to defend their lead against Brighton. The Blues have now lost more ground in the title race and they seem to slip away from the title. However, Brighton were able to salvage a point against Chelsea late in the game.

Chelsea had 3 shots on target as opposed to Brighton’s 2 shots on target. This reflects how both the teams canceled each other out the whole game. Brighton are 9th on the Premier League table and this is a good result against a team like Chelsea. Nevertheless, Chelsea will understandably be disappointed by such a result.

Chelsea took the lead in the 28th minute when Kante passed the ball towards Hakim Ziyech outside the box. The Moroccan midfielder then took a shot which was deflected and scratched the goalkeeper the gloves before going into the net. Chelsea got their advantage before going into the second half.

However, the Blues were not able to hold onto the lead as Brighton equalized in the 60th minute. Adam Webster was left unmarked and took the header well to score from Mac Allister’s corner. Chelsea had several warnings from Brighton before but they failed to keep the Seagulls at bay.

Chelsea Player Ratings vs Brighton

Kepa Arrizabalaga – 7/10

Made one good save before conceding a goal from the corner but had nothing do much else in the game.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 6/10

Made a few mistakes at the start of the game and to hear it from Tuchel. Moreover, he couldn’t balance both the offensive and defensive sides of the game simultaneously.

Thiago Silva – 7/10

As usual, Silva was Chelsea’s best defender and saved them from further embarrassment. Solid performance.

Antonio Rudiger – 7/10

He was very disciplined and commanding in the backline but failed to track Adam Webster for the goal.

Marcos Alonso – 6/10

He also struggled on the left flank and got booked for dragging Lamptey. Moreover, he was one of the defenders who failed to mark Webster.

Jorginho – 6/10

Gave the ball way too many times and lacked preciseness. However, he got better in the second half but still not the best version of himself.

N’Golo Kante – 6/10

He played a second game in the span of four days and got an easy assist. Nevertheless, his passing was not as accurate in the second half.

Hakim Ziyech – 7/10

He struggled at the start of the game and let his frustration out on the ball with a goal that somehow squeezed in. Ziyech had on and off moments in the game and was subbed in the 80th minute.

Callum Hudson-Odoi – 6/10

Had a good chance to take a shot but the shot was not the best of shots. Moreover, his back passes caused frustrations from the Chelsea fans.

Mason Mount – 6/10

Tried to make things happen as he wanted to prove a point since he was dropped the game before. However, he did not have the impact he and Tuchel wanted for their team.

Romelu Lukaku – 6/10

Did great to turn away from Dan Burn and create a chance for Azpilicueta but did not have much impact for the remainder of the game.

Substitutes

Kai Havertz – 6/10

Made a few lay-off passes to create chances for his team.

Mateo Kovacic – 5/10

Tried to score a long-range effort but was quite over the bar in the dying minutes.

Timo Werner – 5/10

Struggled much like Ziyech to get past Cucurella and failed to change the result.
