According to reports, Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile has experienced another setback, dealing with his injuries.

Badiashile joined the Blues in January, after moving from Monaco. He went on to play in 11 Premier League games for Chelsea in the second half of the 2022–23 season.

He sustained a significant hamstring injury in May. It has prevented him from playing for the team since a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest. As a result, Badiashile is yet to make an appearance for Chelsea this season. The Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino, has used players like Thiago Silva, Axel Disasi, and Levi Colwill in central defence so far this season.

It was anticipated that Badiashile would be able to make a full recovery, in time to be included to the matchday squad for Sunday’s Premier League matchup against Aston Villa.

However, it is now a confirmation that the center-back will miss the home game against Aston Villa. According to football.london, he received a small setback last week. According to the report, the France international is presently working alone at Chelsea’s Cobham training facility. He is now hoping to rejoin full training with the first-team group at some point next week.

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino is dealing with a long list of injured players

Pochettino will be anxiously awaiting Badiashile’s return to action as the Chelsea head coach continues to deal with a long injury list. Summer transfer additions Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, and Moises Caicedo are all presently out due to injuries.

They are joined in the treatment room by Marcus Bettinelli, Carney Chukwuemeka, Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, and Wesley Fofana. Marc Cucurella and Noni Madueke have been dealing with illness and injuries, respectively. Armando Broja is still recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

In fact it is unclear whether any absentees will be able to play on Sunday. Pochettino will be hoping for his team to pick up their second Premier League victory of the season against Aston Villa. Chelsea enters the weekend with just five points from as many games. They are currently in the 14th spot in the Premier League standings.

Badiashile emerged as one of the Blues’ top performers during the previous season. Therefore, Chelsea supporters and management alike are anxiously anticipating his return. In a season where other areas of the club fell short of expectations, his reliable performances at the back were a bright spot.
