Chelsea players stunned everyone with their performance

Pochettino

Jamie O’Hara was left stunned by how well one Chelsea player performed against Tottenham last night in the Premier League.

Chelsea kept themselves in the race for the European positions by securing a comfortable 2-0 home win versus rivals Spurs on Thursday evening.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side completed a league double over Spurs this season, winning 4-1 in the away fixture as well.

Trevoh Chalobah put the Blues in front midway through the first-half with a superb header. Meanwhile, Nicolas Jackson doubled Chelsea’s lead in the second-half with his 11th league goal of the campaign.

TalkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara, along with Jason Cundy, showered Marc Cucurella with big praise after his Chelsea performance this week at home to Spurs.

Cucurella, 25, has received a lot of criticism in recent times for his levels since a £60m move (Sky Sports) from Brighton to Stamford Bridge back in 2022.

However, the Spanish defender is beginning to remind everyone that there’s still a quality player in there.

Chelsea team is improving everyday

Spurs fan O’Hara admits the individual display of Cucurella, who inverted infield from left-back, really frustrated him

O’Hara said on talkSPORT (10:24pm, 3 May): “We made Cucurella look like Roberto Carlos.”

Cundy responded: “Can I just say, how good was he tonight?”

O’Hara added: “What’s that about because he’s been terrible?”

Cundy said: “He was actually in centre midfield. We played a lopsided back three. He was a left-hand sided inverted full-back. He looks like [Zinedine] Zidane in there. Long haired, shorter version of Zidane.

O’Hara added: “It was doing my head in just watching him. It just annoys me. It actually was annoying me. He’s been terrible all season, now he’s playing like Guti in there. What is going on? Someone get hold of him.”

The Athletic, who were sourced information by the CIES Football Observatory, state that Cucurella’s value has dropped to around £15m.

However, we’ve witnessed in some recent displays the Spanish full-back rediscover something.

There’s been a lot of positive signs since Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino started deploying him as an inverted full-back.
