Chelsea Pre-Season 2021/22: What to expect?

After a bright 2020/21 season, Chelsea are set to start their new season with a bang. Chelsea won the Champions League, where Kai Havertz scored the game’s only goal against Manchester City. Chelsea Pre-season has already begun, as they look to start their Premier League campaign with a win against Crystal Palace. Meanwhile, it’ll be interesting to see Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea. Also, the Transfer window is still open and Chelsea have been linked with Sevilla’s centre back Jules Koundé.

Chelsea Pre-Season fixtures:

In the first game of the pre-season Chelsea played Peterborough. The Blues scored six goals in the opening fixture. Meanwhile, the opening game featured Ross Barkley, Marcos Alonso, Tammy Abraham, Christian Pulisic, and Hakim Ziyech. Hakim Ziyech scored a second-half hat-trick to seal the victory for Chelsea.

Further, Chelsea played AFC Bournemouth in the second game. The Blues came from behind to win the game. Emiliano Marcondes opened the scoring for the home team with a header. But soon after the first goal, Chelsea responded quickly with back-to-back goals from Armando Borja and Ike Ugbo. Tammy Abraham, Christian Pulisic, and Hakim Ziyech all featured for Chelsea. Meanwhile, Chelsea fans got to see glimpses of their debutant Malang Sarr.

Upcoming Fixtures:

Meanwhile, Chelsea will play their London rivals Arsenal and Spurs in the upcoming games. As they host The Eagles at Stamford Bridge on 14 August.

What does the Pre-Season means for the youngsters?

Pre-Season is always a great opportunity for the youngsters to showcase their abilities. Chelsea have been known for having a great academy. During, the Bournemouth game we got to see Callum Hudson-Odoi in the wing-back position. Also, Conor Gallagher and  Lewis Baker played in the game. Ahead of the Premier League season, it’ll be interesting to see if Tuchel plays Hudson-Odoi over Reece James in the right wing-back position.
