Chelsea Proposed Swap Deal for Pochettino Requires £34m Plus a Player

Chelsea has been informed by Juventus that they won’t compromise on their demands for the transfer of Dusan Vlahovic. Juventus is insisting on a player-plus-cash deal for the Serbian striker. And they want Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku as part of the package.

Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea’s manager, has been working diligently to offload players who either no longer wish to stay at the club or would have limited opportunities in the upcoming season. However, finding a new destination for Lukaku has proven to be a challenge.

A potential move to Inter Milan fell through, and Lukaku’s link with a Saudi Arabian club didn’t materialize. Therefore, Juventus remains one of the few viable options for Lukaku. Chelsea is keen to secure Vlahovic in exchange to strengthen their attacking options. Given Pochettino’s limited choices for the No. 9 position.

Juventus is open to such a deal, but they’ve made their stance clear to Chelsea: they want Lukaku plus an additional £34 million. According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Juventus is not willing to negotiate further and “will not budge” on this stance.

Chelsea and their proposal

Now, it’s up to Chelsea to decide whether to meet Juventus’ financial demands or explore other striker options while also finding a new club for Lukaku. With the summer transfer window closing soon, time is running out for both endeavors.

It’s worth noting that Lukaku has reportedly been training with Chelsea’s Under-21 squad and hasn’t had significant interactions with Pochettino since his return to the club. This situation could further diminish his transfer value if it continues until the January window.

Pochettino is actively seeking at least one more forward before the transfer window closes, with a versatile right-winger being a top priority. The preferred target should be capable of covering the striker role and playing as a No. 10 if needed. Players like Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus and Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson are among those of interest in this context.
