As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are about to make a second bid for Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana. The opening bid of €75million (£63million) was rejected by Leicester almost immediately. Moreover, Romano has also stated that Fofana wants to make a move to Chelsea. Wesley is pushing for a move away from King’s Power Stadium to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea lost both their major center backs this summer. Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger departed Chelsea on a free transfer. Christensen joined Barcelona and Rudiger joined Real Madrid this year. The transfers accelerated Chelsea’s need for defensive reinforcements this summer. Chelsea signed Napoli center-back Kalidou Koulibaily this season to cover this deficit. Moreover, Chelsea are also holding talks with Brighton for a deal for full-back Marc Cucurella. Now, with the deal for Cucurella almost complete, Chelsea are going to set their sights on Fofana

However, Brendan Rogers is adamant that the youngster is not for sale this summer. He is an integral player for Leicester and Brendan Rogers. Brendan Rogers has personally stated that Fofana is not for sale and will spend the entirety of his contract at Leicester. Moreover, Leicester have made it clear that they want another record-breaking fee to let go of the defender this summer. Leicester struggled in the defense a lot because of Fofana’s absence from the back. However, Chelsea are not deterred and are now preparing to place a bid for the defender. He is a 21-year-old player with exciting talent. There is a huge chance that the youngster could develop into a world-class talent under Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea’s transfer window so far

Chelsea have had quite the transfer window this year. They have acquired the services of Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly this summer as their marquee signings. Moreover, they have also signed Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina this summer. The players are brilliant youth prospects and will add a lot of energy and vitality to the squad. Carney is set to join the first team this season whereas Slonina is on loan to former MLS club Chicago Fire.
