Chelsea has completed a big-money deal for Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan. The Belgian arrived in London on Wednesday.

The Premier League club agreed to pay Internazionale £97,500,000 to re-sign the striker. Romelu Lukaku is underwent a medical in Italy ahead of his move to Chelsea.

Thomas Tuchel has made a striker his priority and Chelsea made a move for Lukaku. Tuchel concluded that targets like Erling Haaland and Harry Kane were out of reach.

Lukaku mentioned in June that he would be staying at Inter after winning Serie. However, he notified the club last week that he wanted a move back to Chelsea. The forward will sign a deal worth £250,000 a week.

Chelsea hoped that Lukaku would be ready to take partake in the Super Cup Final against Villarreal CF on Wednesday. Nonetheless, Inter wanted to procure a replacement before allowing Lukaku to depart. This caused a delay, holding back the planned movements. Their main target was known to be Edin Dzeko.

The 35-year-old striker is rumoured to have agreed terms with the Serie A champions. However, Roma themselves would need to find a successor. Topping their shortlist is Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham. The Englishman was under the tutelage of current Roma coach Jose Mourinho during his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku – A Premier League Veteran

Lukaku knows the Premier League quite, having joined Chelsea from Anderlecht in 2011. He has made appearances for West Brom, Everton and Manchester United. He turned down an offer to return to Stamford Bridge before eventually linking up with Antonio Conte at Inter last season.

Yet the Italian made a surprise departure at the end of May due to disagreements over the transfer budget. This prompted an opportunity for Lukaku to make an exit. He was successful in securing the club’s first Serie A title in 11 years.

Lukaku has netted 64 goals in 95 appearances for Inter over the last two seasons coming off a two-year spell at Old Trafford, where he found the net on 42 occasions.
