Thomas Tuchel will brace up for the return of two of his crucial players ahead of the Manchester United game. The news is a major boost as Chelsea have been dealing with too many injuries this season. As a result, their season suffered massively. However, there is some positive news ahead of the United game. Chelsea are hopeful of having their two star players at disposal as they travel to Old Trafford.

Chelsea’s season turned upside-down despite a brilliant start after inconsistent results. The Blues finished the first month as the league leaders, but conceded the title race to Manchester City and Liverpool. Constant dropping of points dented their hopes of winning the league. Furthermore, their defence of the Champions League title ended as well being knocked-out by Real Madrid.

Further on, injuries to many of the Chelsea players piled up misery on the Blues. Left-back Ben Chilwell was the first casualty, who suffered a ligament injury ending his season. Chelsea had no sooner recovered from the massive blow than Reece James got injured. And since the turn of the year, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger have picked up knocks at different timelines. But finally it seems, Tuchel will have some of his important players back for the United game.

Chelsea players who missed last game back in training

One of the players who has performed whenever on the field for Chelsea is Reece James. However, the right-back has time and time again suffered injuries this season. His absence on the right flank has negatively affected the Blues. The 22-year-old again sustained a muscle injury, forcing him to sit out in the last game. Moreover, Antonio Rudiger was absent for last two games as well due to a groin strain. Andreas Christensen pulled out form the starting eleven minutes before the kick-off through illness.

Tuchel was left with only Cesar Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva as senior defenders. However, things could look different for Chelsea against Manchester United. Reece James and Rudiger are back in training with the group day before the United game. Pictures coming out of Cobham showed both the Chelsea players joining the group for full training.

However, Chelsea’s official website stated that Thomas Tuchel will provide an update on the center-back’s availability in his pre-match presser. But first and foremost, the news that both Rudiger and James are back in training is a huge positive itself. Chelsea need as many players as possible in their final run of the season. The Blues are in the FA Cup final as well, facing Liverpool who defeated them in this year’s League Cup final.

Chelsea are yet to secure their third place in the league table after slipping too many times. With five games remaining, Tuchel will want his men to lock a third-place finish as well. The challenge starts with the game against United and the return of James and Rudiger will certainly help. Nonetheless, Chelsea will be praying that their other players comeback uninjured and healthy from Old Trafford irrespective of the result.
