Chelsea Rekindle Talks for £55m Everton Transfer as Summer Heats Up

Reports suggest that Chelsea has reignited their pursuit of Everton midfielder Amadou Onana. The Blues had previously shown strong interest in the Belgian player during the January transfer window, but a deal failed to materialize.

Onana, who joined Everton just last summer, proved to be one of the standout performers for the Toffees in the 2022/23 season and played a crucial role in helping the team maintain their Premier League status.

Following a promising start to his season in England, there were discussions between Chelsea and the representatives of 21-year-old midfielder Amadou Onana. However, the player ultimately stayed at Everton, and Chelsea brought in Enzo Fernandez instead.

Nevertheless, with Mauricio Pochettino now aiming to strengthen his midfield for the upcoming season. Reports indicate that Chelsea has rekindled their interest in the talented former Lille midfielder. According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, negotiations between Chelsea and Onana have been reopened. With the Blues displaying a significant level of interest in acquiring the player’s services.

Chelsea may have a chance to secure a deal for Amadou Onana. As the player reportedly expresses willingness to leave Everton after just one season. Despite playing a crucial role in midfield for Everton. With 35 appearances across all competitions and a key contribution in their battle for survival. Onana’s potential departure is to be driven by Everton’s financial circumstances. It is in suggestion that a transfer fee in the region of £55 million could be enough to facilitate the move.

Chelsea’s pursuit of midfield reinforcements has faced setbacks, as they missed out on signing Manuel Ugarte to Paris Saint-Germain. Moreover, it is in anticipation that both Nicolo Barella and Declan Rice will secure transfers elsewhere. The potential departures of Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, and Conor Gallagher further exacerbate Chelsea’s midfield concerns. Leaving them in a precarious position with limited options in that area of the pitch.
