In an exciting development, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea is on the verge of finalizing the sale of their talented 24-year-old midfielder, Kai Havertz, to Arsenal. Romano took to Twitter to share the news. Wherein, he stated that Havertz has successfully completed the initial stage of his medical, paving the way for his move to North London.

Havertz has left an indelible mark on Chelsea’s history, etching his name with the solitary goal in the thrilling 2021 Champions League final. However, beyond that triumphant moment, his time at Stamford Bridge has been somewhat lackluster, despite his consistent appearances for the team.

During the previous season, Havertz predominantly played as a forward but struggled to make a significant impact as a goal scorer. And hence, this mirrored the club’s overall disappointing campaign in the Premier League. With the summer transfer window underway and Chelsea considering various options, Havertz became available for offers.

After a highly competitive pursuit, it appears that Arsenal has emerged victorious in securing Havertz’s signature. As confirmed by Romano, the deal is expected to be finalized within the week. Romano expressed on Twitter,

“Kai Havertz has already completed the first part of the medical tests as a new Arsenal player. We are now awaiting the signing of contracts on the club’s side. The deal with Chelsea will be completing this week.”

Considering the substantial transfer fee Chelsea paid for Havertz’s services in 2020. The Gunners’ offer will likely satisfy the Blues’ financial expectations. Moreover, the sale of the German international will coincide with several other first-team players leaving the club. Also, many of them are going to go to Saudi Arabia for the incredible amounts of money being paid.

Just yesterday, Chelsea officially announced the departure of Kalidou Koulibaly, who spent only a year in the Premier League. Hence, this highlights the active transfer activity of Chelsea as they reshape their squad for the upcoming season.
