Chelsea are already in the top four of the Premier League with 53 points. However, their dip in form put them in danger of losing 3rd place on the table. They have now won three games on the run in the Premier League and a good run of fixtures for the next few weeks. Arsenal are just 5 points behind Chelsea with one game in hand as the Gunners want to secure a Champions League spot.

Chelsea won four consecutive games back in October by beating Southampton, Brentford, Norwich, and Newcastle. However, since then, the Blues have not won three games in a row in the Premier League. This has resulted in the Blues losing a lot of points at the end of last year. Arsenal were nowhere near Chelsea at the start of the season but now are just 5 points and potentially just 2 points behind them.

Nevertheless, Chelsea are now finding their groove back as their players are returning from injuries. Reece James has had an instant impact after returning from his long-term injury. He got himself a goal and an assist in his first start of a game since returning from injury. They looked like a rampant team which is what the Blues fans were rooting for since the start of the season.

Chelsea are competing in the FA Cup and as well as in the Champions League while working for a place in the top four. They now have a good run of fixtures where they are the favorites to win those three points. If they win these fixtures, their top-four spot is all but confirmed. The quicker Chelsea ensures a top-four finish, the quicker they will be able to focus on the FA Cup and also the Champions League.

What Chelsea should do to finish in the top four at the earliest?

Chelsea have their next three fixtures relatively easier than Arsenal. They could wrap up their top-four position and get some gap between them and Arsenal in the next three fixtures. Moreover, Chelsea are almost back to full squad strength and look deadly after their recent outing to Burnley. More importantly, they don’t look to have much effect after their EFL Cup final loss against Liverpool.

Chelsea have won the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup this season. Moreover, they were supposed to be very strong contenders for the Premier League title also. However, their injury crisis and underperforming players held them back from achieving what they wanted.

Since they now have a few easier fixtures and also almost a full squad, they can experiment with a few things to get better results and stability. More importantly, Chelsea should try to get the best out of Romelu Lukaku as the summer signing has barely lived up to the hype and worth of his transfer fee. If Chelsea gets Romelu Lukaku back and running then it will be difficult to stop them.

Reece James seems to have lifted Chelsea up and has made them even more dangerous from the right-hand side. He could be a key player in the final stages of the season for Chelsea. However, Tuchel has to be careful with James as he has recently returned from a long-term injury and still has to be recovered fully. Chelsea will surely seal a place in the top four of the Premier League but whether they will win the FA Cup and the Champions League is still doubtful.
