Chelsea are tipped to sign Leandro Trossard from Brighton Hove Albion in the January transfer window. This is according to former Netherlands international and analyst Johan Boskamp. Boskamp, speaking to Voetbal Primeur, has said that Chelsea wants to sign Leandro Trossard in the next transfer window. New Chelsea manager Graham Potter is keen on this move in the next transfer window.

Graham Potter enjoyed three successful seasons with Brighton before joining Chelsea in 2022. His tactical flexibility and man management skills made every player better off at Brighton. Moreover, his deployment of Cucurella, a primary left back as a left center back helped Brighton to sell the player for an excess of £60m to Chelsea. Trossard, is primarily a winger but, he was deployed as a striker, a number 10, and as a left wing-back during his time at Brighton. Now, Boskamp thinks that Potter will look to reunite with Trossard in the January transfer window.

Trossard’s versatility will make him a valuable player for Chelsea. He is a proven Premier League player who is familiar with how Potter operates. Trossard has developed a lot under Graham Potter at Brighton. Moreover, it makes sense for Graham Potter to recruit a player from Brighton. He needs to ensure that he has a squad of players buying into his ideas and vision for Chelsea. So, recruiting a quality player from his old club will be something that we can expect from him in the next transfer window.

Boskamp’s view on Chelsea going after Trossard

Speaking to Voetbal Primeur, Boskamp said:

“Under Potter, he (Trossard) grew into a strong holder in the Premier League. Hopefully, he will stay that way under his successor. I’m not too worried because his form will last. Maybe Potter will come and get him during the winter .“
