Chelsea to benefit from Romelu Lukaku Champions League nightmare

Chelsea targets Lukaku contract.
Despite his costly miss in the Champions League final, Inter Milan remains keen on retaining Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku at the San Siro for the upcoming season. Lukaku is left to lament his opportunity which he did miss as he hit a late free header straight at Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson. Which could have potentially forced the final into extra time. Nevertheless, Inter Milan is eager to keep the striker in their ranks.

Despite some unfortunate incidents during the Champions League final, such as inadvertently blocking a goal-bound header from Federico Dimarco. Inter Milan remains determined to extend Romelu Lukaku’s stay. Inter owner Steven Zhang expressed Lukaku’s love for the club and acknowledged that while he is currently under contract with Chelsea. Discussions need to take place with the London club to clarify his future. Lukaku’s performance in the final might have convinced new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino that Inter Milan is welcome to retain the striker’s services.

Lukaku’s frustrating night in front of goal left his strike partner Lautaro Martinez puzzled as well. Martinez remarked that even Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson couldn’t believe how he managed to save Lukaku’s header.

On Monday, Romelu Lukaku had a meeting with representatives from Al-Hilal in Paris to discuss a potential move. However, Lukaku’s preference is to stay at Inter Milan and continue playing in a top European league.

Chelsea is unlikely to resist a transfer for Lukaku. As the club is looking to make significant sales during the summer transfer window. It was also in mention by Simon Phillips that Mauricio Pochettino, the new manager of Chelsea. Expressed a desire to work with the Belgian international at Stamford Bridge.


There appears to be a growing interest from Saudi Arabian clubs in several players at Stamford Bridge.

According to Fabrizio Romano, N’Golo Kante is on the verge of finalizing a move to Al-Ittihad within the next 24 hours. It is in reports that Kante has accepted a contract offer worth €100m (£86m).

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is another player who is being pursued by clubs in Saudi Arabia. While Hakim Ziyech is also a target of interest.
