Chelsea Transfer Battle: Club President Hints at Pursuit for Victory

Pochettino

Chelsea has a lot of plans for their summer transfers.
Despite reports suggesting that Paris Saint-Germain had secured the signing of Sporting midfielder Ugarte. The player himself had yet to confirm the transfer. The Lisbon media appeared confident in their assertions, even releasing extensive coverage of the saga. However, Sporting president Frederico Varandas recently provided an interview to Sporting TV. Where he revealed that the deal is not yet finalized. Giving Chelsea a potential opportunity to emerge victorious in the battle for Ugarte’s signature. Varandas stated that while PSG is one of the clubs in contention. There are two European clubs that have surpassed the release clause amount. Leaving the door open for Chelsea to make a compelling offer.

The situation surrounding Ugarte’s transfer has taken a confusing turn, with contrasting statements from Sporting president Frederico Varandas and the player himself. While Varandas suggests that the deal with PSG is not yet finalized and that another club is willing to meet the required amount. Ugarte himself expressed certainty about joining PSG in an interview with Uruguayan media. He mentioned his excitement about joining the French giants and his intention to make a strong start there. Given Varandas’ claim that there is still a chance for Chelsea to sign the midfielder. It may be worthwhile for the Blues to consider making a final move in this transfer saga.

Chelsea and their targets

Chelsea, who have invested nearly £600 million in player acquisitions since last summer. They are actively reconstructing their squad and have made strengthening their midfield a top priority. They are to make a move for Brighton’s Moisés Caicedo, a highly sought-after player who will command a price tag of at least £80 million. However, Arsenal and Liverpool are also in interest in securing his services.

Initially, Chelsea had aimed to secure both Caicedo and Ugarte. However, with the need to trim their bloated squad, they have granted permission for Mateo Kovacic to engage in talks with Manchester City. Manchester United have initiated discussions regarding Mason Mount, while AC Milan has shown interest in Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Additionally, N’Golo Kanté’s contract expires this month, and despite ongoing negotiations, clubs from Saudi Arabia are expressing interest in the French midfielder. It’s worth noting that Chelsea previously did sell Jorginho to Arsenal in January. And their midfield already includes Enzo Fernández, a player they did obtain for £106.8 million.
