Chelsea transfer update: Blues made contact with Sporting for two men

Pochettino

Chelsea are looking for a double January transfer with Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon. Chelsea have made contacts with Sporting for Victor Gyokeres and Ousmane Diomande. The Blues are willing to sign a young defender to bolster their squad for long term. The Blues want Ousmane Diomande as their potential defence target. The 20-year old Ivory international will be discussed along with a striker internally. However, the Portuguese side is willing to make an ask for €80m for the defender.

The defender is a key figure for Sporting after joining them last year. He is the reason why they sit at the top of the table ahead of their rivals Benfica and Porto. Moreover, his former club Midtjylland owe 20 per cent of any profit Sporting make from a future transfer. This can further complicate the attempts to reduce the fee. Despite having players like Disasi, Badiashile, Chalobah, Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana, Blues want another young defender. However, Fofana is out with a long term injury and Chalobah is for sale in January. Moreover, veteran defender Thiago Silva can also leave in the upcoming summer.

Chelsea are also in contact for striker Victor Gyokeres. Though, Sporting are not willing to leave their marksman and can demand for a €100m release clause. Nevertheless, Chelsea have other striker options like Osimhen, Ivan Toney and Club Brugge’s Antonio Nusa on the list. Gyokeres is also on the list of some other top clubs as well. The Blues are also looking to call back their young loanee Andrey Santos from Nottingham Forest who is having a pretty bad loan spell at City Ground.
