Chelsea vs AC Milan Match Preview and Injury Updates

Current Serie A champions AC Milan take on the current Champions of the World Chelsea in match day 3 of the Champions League. AC Milan are third in the league and remains unbeaten in their two Champions League matches. Chelsea on the other hand are fifth in the league and are yet to win a match in the Champions League. This is a crucial game for both AC Milan and Chelsea. A win for the Rossoneri will cement their place at the top of the group. A win for Chelsea will give them some much-needed momentum for the Champions League game ahead.

However, there are multiple injuries to players on each side. Ac Milan have a lot of injuries in particular. According to Tuttosport, Milan is in a state of emergency. There has been a lot of injuries to a lot of key players. Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez have picked up an injury while on international duty. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alessandro Florenzi are injured on a long-term basis. Alexis Saelemaekers and David Calabria also picked up knocks in Milan’s 3-1 victory over Empoli. All in all, there are just 17 senior squad players available for the clash against Chelsea.

Kante is out of the game, and Mendy included in the squad for Chelsea

Ngolo Kante hasn’t still fully recovered from the hamstring injury that he suffered on matchday two of the Premier League. Potter’s update on Kante states as:

N’Golo’s training more and more – not fully but getting closer so that’s really positive. We (Chelsea) have to be careful with how we build his minutes so that’s the next challenge”

Jorginho and Kai Havertz were both withdrawn in the second half of Chelsea’s match against Crystal Palace on Saturday. Jorginho has reported discomfort in his abdomen. Kai Havertz has had a slight bout of sickness but has trained ahead of the match against AC Milan.
