The Game-Week 20 of the Premier League will take place over the midweek starting on Tuesday. This GW will continue throughout the midweek, with Chelsea taking on Brighton on Thursday, 29th December at 1:00 AM IST. The fixture will take place at the Stamford Bridge and hence will be an away game for the Seagulls.

Chelsea are currently sitting 3rd in the PL, tying with second placed Liverpool with 41 points. The Blues are coming off a crunching 3-1 victory against Aston Vila. Manager Thomas Tuchel will be very short on players available for selection as the injury list keeps increasing.

On the other hand, Brighton are sitting 9th in the table with 23 pts, a single point ahead of Leicester City. The team is coming off a close 2-0 win against Brentford. Graham Potter’s men have performed well beyond their expectations this season and would definitely try to make life miserable for the London Giants.

Team News

Chelsea vs Brighton: The Blues’ team news and injury updates:

The Blues will highly miss Ben Chilwell who is set to be out for long. Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante and Trevoh Chalobah will also miss the game, after their Boxing Day injuries against Villa. Covid-19 absentees include Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.

On the bright side, Mateo Kovacic could be declared fit after making a substitute appearance in the previous game. Ruben Loftus-Cheek could also recover in time for the game.

Chelsea Predicted Lineup:

Mendy; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger; James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso; Ziyech, Mount; Lukaku

Chelsea vs Brighton: The Seagulls’ team news and injury updates:

The Seagulls could be without Leandro Trossard, who was subbed off after the first half against Brentford due to tightness in his hamstring. Further absentees include Jeremy Sarmiento, Steven Alzate and skipper Lewis Dunk. Joel Veltman continues to remain a doubt.

A sigh of relief would be the return of Yves Bissouma from his suspension. This could mean that Jakub Moder could make his way back to the bench.

Brighton Predicted Lineup:

Sanchez; Lamptey, Webster, Burn, Cucurella; Bissouma, Lallana, Mwepu; Mac Allister; Welbeck, Maupay

Our score predictions: Chelsea 2-1 Brighton

Brighton this season would be a tough opponent to face provided their recent form. While Tuchel’s men have lost their form in recent games, their quality still remains unmatched. Hence, it will be a decent contest where the Blues will come out on top.
