Chelsea wants to recall the 21-year-old loan player, but the manager is currently trying to get him to stay at the team

This month, Chelsea hopes to send one of their players out on loan before moving him to another team. According to Diario de Sevilla, David Datro Fofana is currently at Union Berlin. Chelsea and Sevilla want his loan there to be canceled so he can join the Spanish team.

The same source asserts that Nenad Bjelica, the manager of Union Berlin, is attempting to persuade the striker to stay in Germany and does not want him to depart.

His tenure at the Bundesliga team has not gone well overall. He even refused to shake his former boss Urs Fischer’s hand after being substituted in a Champions League game.

However, Bjelica has since taken Fischer’s place, and Fofana has scored his first goal in the Bundesliga.

Chelsea should pay attention to David Datro Fofana

Chelsea’s attention to Fofana is crucial in this situation. It would be pointless to cancel his loan and send him to Sevilla if he is content at Union Berlin and does not want to leave the team.

Whether the 21-year-old feels that way is unclear, though. Again, he hasn’t really had much success there overall.

Chelsea, on the other hand, could certainly use an additional striker in their lineup.

Senegal’s Nicolas Jackson is competing in the Africa Cup of Nations, and Christopher Nkunku—a player who can lead the line—has sustained yet another injury.

Fofana is probably not the solution, though. A reliable No. 9 is currently what Mauricio Pochettino needs, but those players are obviously hard to come by. The Argentine would already own one if they were, given the amount of wealth Chelsea possesses. As a result, the Blues’ season would most likely appear very different.
